I've got boards etched for the G-pultec and the G1176. I've got a two rack-space chassis. I've got a few parts laying around. I'm itching to build something. But I can't decide which one to build. Any thoughts??

May sound like a stupid question, but what do you want to do?
By that, I mean what tasks do you perform most, and how would you like to change that workflow?
Are you into recording, and want to start using compressors on the input? Are you mastering and want offboard solutions to add color in the final mix? Are you mastering and want offboard solutions to NOT color the mix but pull it together more? Or are you looking for pop for vocal tracks?
Or, do you just want to build a cool piece of gear for the hell of building it?
Personally, I'd build an 1176 before a pultec, because I would use it more. Someone else might want a pultec because it adds a color -- a "sound you know" -- that's very pleasing, and because they like the workflow better than modern parametric devices.

+1 on the 1176... Use that thing constantly. In fact, do yourself a favor and build a dual unit.
