Hey guys,
I've got an Illustrator (.ai) file that I've processed in Corel according to the FPE tutorial for the HPGL format but I'm not sure if I've done everything correctly. I can't get the contour lines to show up unless I use simulated fill in the export options for the HPGL format in the advanced tab and apparently this isn't recommended by FPE. Am I meant to be using simulated fill and if so what settings (e.g. cross-hatching/parallel lines, line spacing etc.)

Does anyone have any experience/suggestions or could send me an example HPGL file?

Thanks!

hmmm, I have gone over to designing everything in Illustrator and just using Corel to convert to HPGL. Have you checked out Frank's tutorial over at nrgrecording.de ?

make sure you convert all fonts to "outlines"
change view to "path view"
select objects and make a copy
then "menu -> object -> path -> move path" with a negative value according to your engraving tool (i.e. 0,07mm)
repeat until the object is fully filled

the menu commands might have slightly different names, I'm on a german system...
hope this helps, Marten
