Sad to record the death of Jim Marshall aged 88.

He's one of the guys we owe so much to.  From my years in a band in the 60's, his was the gear we all aspired to, all the top bands we went to see in London used his gear.  I first remember seeing marshall 100W stacks in '66 at the Marquee club in Wardour street, it was the Who.  Entwhistle's bass was so loud I swear it re-arranged the organs in my chest, which ached after a while.  We were deaf for about half an hour afterwards.  It is amazing I can still hear now!

I made copies of his 100W PA speakers which, unusually for the time, were staggered 4x12's to make them more compact.  They took our vocals to a higher level.

Well done Jim, a life well lived.

We didn`t have greats amps here so my first tube amp was a DIY plexi amp, later I built a JCM800. even my DIY page is called Plexilandia.

I can`t imagine the sound of rock or heavy metal without the marshall sound.
