MXL 2003a queries...

I picked one up cheap (I know...) to take a look at and my example is a little flawed (the other part of I know...). On power up it goes though a spiralling filter sweep of resonance that a Jupiter 8 would be proud of and then finally settles down to an annoying 10khz whine. I'm guessing large electrolytics play a part, anyone prepared to share a better map to orientate a rescue mission by? Have scope, iron, DMM - will report back.  TIA
