Howdy,

i have been searching the internet for those 4 projects.
I am currently modding my T-bone and i am looking for a very good Preamp.

I am looking for something clean, so far my top would be the SLOW BLOW.
I'd like to also do this project P2P if possible, seems neat :)

I have gathered all the infos to build those 4 but as a first Tube Preamp project, i'd like to start with something cheap in case i have to replace parts or something goes wrong.

Could any one give me an average price in euros for each build.

Oh and of course, if you feel like dropping another build you enjoyed, please do.

Thank you a bunch.

by far the most expensive part of any tube pre will the input transformer (and output if you choose to use one) So pic the one that looks simplest to you and go for it.

Thanks,

Yes i don't mean cheap, that's a really bad term, i just mean the one less expensive :)

Pucho812, have you tried the NYD MILA, How does it comes out sound-wise?

On this schematic of the Slow-Blow there are two tranformers, i guess it will more expensive then but if those are the most expensive part, i might go for that.
The only thing is i heard the Power Supply is expensive to build on the slow Blow due to the complexity and high values parts.

Does anyone know a cheaper PSU alternative to that project?
B+ : 320V
Filament : 12v
48v

SLOW BLOW estimated cost of 2 Preamp without Power Supply :

From Farnell : 25 euros
From Banzai : 55 euros
Lundahl input transformer : 60 euros a piece
Tubes : ECC86 10 euros Each + 5687 to be found.

Price per channel : 110 euros minus the 5687 tube

That price is very reasonable, i think i got it right.
Though the expensive part is the power supply.
It is provided to power 10 units easily.

Anybody knows another circuit to power only 2 or 4 channels?
Here is the actual schematic attached.

I have and everyone i built clients had to have and offers were made. I am currently tinkering with an idea of a 4 X1 tube mixer made up of one bottles for recording multiple mics on a guitar but having them all on one track.

This one is quite cheap, and due to the plethora of tube choice (see the chart in the schematic) probably works best p2p. Omit the EQ section and it becomes a plain two tube preamp with lots of gain and drive.

PSU will power 2-4 channels easily. Works for a large range of other tube projects as well.
