Hi GroupDIY Members! I bit the bullet today and joined because I'm exploding with excitement, anxiety, and joy to start an 1176 DIY project. Please excuse the excessive amount of ignorance your about to read! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! :D

I've searched high and low for a guide to start this project and found them and its like starting a new language when I see the schematics. I found the Hairball kit and it helps but I have no idea where to start. I can learn quickly if I'm shown where it starts and ends. I want to jump in but with an idea and so far, all the posts I find have no clear direction (or maybe I'm skipping over something). All in all, I'm looking for a guide that can explain how to read schematics, and where to begin for this project. Some people suggested to build smaller gear like pedals and what not but I LOVE CHALLENGES which lead me to this project (Even though it might not be that difficult). Please, if someone can point me to the right direction, I will greatly appreciate it. :D

Hello!
Welcome to the Board! :) Here are some links you might find useful!

http://www.makingthings.com/teleo/products/documentation/teleo_user_guide/electronics.html
http://library.thinkquest.org/16497/intro/index.html
http://www.noisemantra.com/Physical%20Computing/Intro%20to%20Electronics.pdf

At least thats what google spit out when I gave it "intro to electronics" ;)
Just dive in, there is no easier way than doing. Plus there are many many many threads, probably answering the questions you have. Before I started posting I read for probably about a year and a half...sometimes I still think that wasn't long enough. There is a GOLD mine of info on here. Again Welcome! Go start soldering and don't electrocute yourself! :)

Thanks for the Reply! learned a lot in a few minutes to an hour. I feel a bit more confident after reading through those links. Really, thank you. My next concern is doing the power supply section. How can I go about it without electrocuting myself? once thats out the way, it seems like things get easier.

Thanks in advance. :D
