Hi Eric, I purchased a couple K67 capsules from you a while ago and am now installing them. Making a McMaster Carr order for some other parts and would like to know what the screw size is for mounting the capsule to the capsule-mount so I can order a bag of those too.

Appreciate it.

Cheers,
jonathan

Yes I use the stainless 0-80 thread and I am pretty sure 3/16 of an inch long..

Anyone remotely interested in Eric's capsules should watch this video:

Seems like a cool shootout but how does it relate to Eric's capsule, and it sounds just like a camcorder filming in the room while samples play on the speakers.  Not very useful.

I'll bet you didn't watch the whole thing then.

OK, those who don't want to watch the entire video, start at the 16.50 mark.
Just keep in mind that all the classic mics that people drool over were covered before that.  :)

True.  I bailed about 8 minutes in.  Just watched the part you specified and saw what you were talking about.  Thx for that.  ;)  So we're "almost" there.

FWIW my Matachung C12 fitted with the CT12 is the sweetest mic I've ever heard.  The tube makes a lot of difference too though.  I've tried about 20.

That said, I'm dying to try the Beezneez and Heiserman capsules.  It just goes to show how hard these are to make.

All ends well.  :)

If we focus on the (very) positive, that Fet 47 (built by Eric, with his own capsule and Dany's PCB) really stole the show. Darn, now I've given it away. Anyway, that cross breed K47 capsule (with dual backplates) sounds very nice indeed. Eric is onto something there.

Regarding the 12. I really appreciate and respect Eric's honesty.
Also, I don't know how long ago the video was made, but from what I understand, he is pretty confident about it now.

Hey everyone, new here. Cool place. I'm the guy who's doing all the videos and mic clips over at gearslutz. The video posted here is a part of a thread with links to studio clips from 2 different studios with a number of singers and acoustic guitars. I will organize the we transfer download links tomorrow and post them up. We've been using a bunch of mics that eric assembled with his capsules and they are great. I actually got a Fet 47 that I have been using everyday. Some of the mics shot out are the finest in the world. This all started in Mexico City about a month ago while I was at Cosmos Production with Armando Avila. He has a mic collection only surpassed by Sides and McBride. So the test is great. Also we used a number of re-issues and clone types. I will get it up here.

Hi all, Updated the status of the HK12 I will be posting new sound clips of the first production capsule. So far feedback is very good!

Hi all,

Quick update... The HK12's are starting to become available. The folks that have pre-ordered thanks!! Your capsules are being skinned as we speak.. Also for those with outstanding orders of 67 and 87 capsules I am also working to get all orders out the door. I have had multiple setbacks lately and It caused me to get far behind. All of that is resolved and I will be shipping all back orders within the next week or so....

Thanks for all of your patience!!!!!

Eric

...I heard a quick sample of one of this current run of HK12 capsules tonight, and I have to say it sounded exceptionally smooth without a hint of sibilance...very impressive!...

...and without dropping any names, a very well-respected boutique mic-builder I know has ordered a couple for testing in his own custom recreations...

Hi all,

I've got a silver C414 EB with a teflon capsule. Can I just swap this capsule out for an HK12 capsule? Is it that easy, or are there some changes to the circuit?

Thanks for your help!

Dave

Dave,

It should be a fit from the circuit perspective the mount is my only concern really.. I am not very familiar with the 414 capsule mount.
