I would say DIYer. DIY is a mnemonic so should be in capitals. An apostrophe is used either to I dictate possession or missing characters niether of which applies in this case.

Acronym.

Initialism.

If you can pronounce the string of letters as a word, then it's an acronym (like LASER).
If you can't, and you just say the letters, then it's an initialism.

Sometimes you have to wonder how people without soldering irons and electronics hand tools get by.

Yesterday I replaced the burned out UV lamp in my under sink RO water filter, and the new bulb had to be soldered to wires, after they were unsoldered from the old lamp.

I wonder if the average homeowner is prepared for that kind of equipment maintenance..

Nope, He will never.
They will bring everything/anything that's broken to you/me/anyone "skilled" and will wait anxiously for it to magically fix itself....

Anything...

(I've been fixing woman's shoes this week :S )
