I have experienced a situation with an old link to the main index where it would not recognize me as logged in. However as soon as I clicked on a sub forum it would recognize me. I have since changed my bookmark so I can't even tell you what that old faulty link was, but you may need to change the link you use to get to the main index here if it doesn't recognize you.
