Hey guys,

Does anyone know exactly what is done to the cards to perform this?  I have one here that I bought a few years back and it's super cool, but I just acquired a 24 channel rack of Dolby A with the Cat 22 cards and I was just curious.  Someone told me it was simply lifting 2 resistors, but the guy I bought mine from said it was quite complicated with several values swapped out.

If there's a link or a page to check out, that would be super helpful.

Thanks!
Sig

Looks a bit complicated!

Kidding.

There's really no mod to speak of. You simply "encode" to dolby, and then don't use the decoder side. The encoder section lifts and compresses high frequencies.

If you have no schematic you can simply trace the signal path and take the output signal directly from the encoder section output. This applies to all tape dolby noise reduction systems by the way, the consumer B and C types included.

It seems some people simply encode, and others go further to disable the low frequency section of the encoder. There's instructions from dolby how to accomplish this. See warhead's post.
