Well, the mixes are finished, anyway.

I do this kinda spacey prog rock (some of you have heard it), and I finally decided it's time to abandon this album and move on. The only steps I'll take from here are a bit of mastering, which will be nothing more than adjusting volume levels and silences between tracks.

That's the entire album as a set, but if you're impatient with the slow start, here are links to the three "singles":

I'm well aware I'm not a great singer.

So yeah, I'm sure you'll have critiques about the mixes. Too late now. :) I'm tired of this one. Time for some new material.

A lot of the sounds were obtained from field recordings, from homemade instruments, and a $25 thrift store electric organ.

since you are releasing this I'd like to offer up an impression \ review blurb for the press:

DL's latest expression is Rush on Scotchgard: Steve Perry's tarnished prince albert. Like Steely Dan straight from a spoon, via an improvised cotton ball filter...or what Jan Hamer's dentist plays"

-Shabtek

nicely done

I'm  not too sure exactly how to take your blurb, but I'll take it. ;) Actually, "What Jan Hammer's dentist plays" is exactly the kind of sentence that would get the attention of my target audience.

The background wash was a copy of the electric piano track (it was actually an Akai Miniak patch, but we'll call it an electric piano for now), sent through a reverb with something like a 15 second tail set to 100% wet, then put through a flanger. I used the TAL Flanger plugin here: http://kunz.corrupt.ch/products/tal-effects

I still have some people pushing me to keep re-re-recording the vocals. "Ooh, it's almost there," they say. "Nail it, and push it over the top," they say.

Except my condenser mic is now a white noise source, and my ribbon mic sounds really dull and I have to process it in special ways to make it sound decent.

Plus, they aren't giving me details on what notes are supposedly bad. Some of the notes I hit do sound weird, because I use a lot of tritone suspensions, and my melody ends up at the tritone. I like the free-floating effect, but it seems to bug other people, and they dismiss it as "singing out of tune" when in fact I'm singing the melody exactly as written.

Sorry, just had to vent.
