Hi gang, I'm building a U47 clone and across the 'net I've seen some interesting looking resistors. I'm attaching a pic of one by Telefunken USA and one by Peluso. What ARE those orange/beige looking resistors? I can see "DALE" on one, so obviously they must be Vishay/Dale, but are they metal film, carbon comp, carbon film, wire wound...? I just didn't have the patience to troll through endless product pages on Mouser/Digikey.

Also, why would one choose these huge mamas? Aside from curbside appeal?

Thanks any help!

Dale or IRC metal film judging from appearance, is my guess.
