I would like to get into mic modding and I don't doubt I've come to the right place! :)  What I need is a basic starting point in understanding mic design at a schematic level.  For example, in the tube amp world there is a common template that stems back to the early tube radios.  Leo fender used it as a basis for his amps.  Jim Marshall moddified leo fenders designs..etc.  However, there is a common thread that runs thru them all in the design.  Whether it be 100k input impedance, 68k grid stoppers, or .022 coupling caps.  You get the idea.  So in essence, I need to probably go back to the origins of the microphone and start from there.  Any good websites or info is much appreciated.  Thanks
