simple question really.....but not to me :-\

I haven't got any 33megs !

Will the 22megs do - or the 47's ?
cheers
Pete

That 33meg resistor will often be higher. In the m49 it is 150meg and some designs it is up to 1G.
Basically, the pattern voltage comes in through the 10k and the 100n cap provides a little stabilization. Assume the pattern voltage is steady then the 33meg pins the back of capsule at that nominal voltage.

OK
many thanks Guys,

I'm using Tim's C12 capsule - on order.

Rgds

 and you are concerned with a $1 resistor...If it were mine I would follow the scheme--or empirically find what sounds best--lotsa monies for that capsule.

price of resistors not a worry - just cant locate any 33meg here in uk from my usual sources !

cheers

..anything between 10M  and 100M will do fine

You shouldn't use larger than 100M - as it is just a back-membrane polarisation voltage supplier for the adjustable pattern. Too large a value will result in too slow pattern changes (it has to charge/discharge the 10nF polystyrene capacitor to ground)
