Hello everybody!

I want to build a pad switch by changing the voltage of the capsule.
Is when I turn on and off the pad switch, do I need to turn off the phantom power previously.

There are a MAYBE 4 ways to "pad" a tube microphone depending on the circuit.

One, the standard cap from grid to ground, cap divider network

Two, reduce the charge voltage to the capsule(this might be the best if possable)

Three, remove the cathode bypass cap if the microphone has one This changes the sound because the tube has more feedback.

Four, if it is a charge amp circuit increasing the feedback cap can reduce the gain to a point.

Takes some pictures and/or trace the circuit.  We can go from there.

No.  You don't have to turn off the phantom if you do this just for the capsule voltage.

This is a very good way of changing a mike's sensitivity.  Virtually "pop" less.  Less distortion too.

I did it on the Soundfield Mk4.

Thank you, Ricardo.
I'm planning to change the voltage of the capsule by turning off the oscillator of DC-DC.
