How Can I Make my Oktava MK319 Brighter, with more Presence and High end?

I have already done the Scott Dorsey mods, and while the mic is
a bit brighter with the new electronics, I'm finding I would like to have
a bit more presence.

How about removing C5 and C6?  These are two caps in series, that are
shunts to ground, and are therefore acting as low-pass filter.

Have you done the head basket and capsule resonator mod?

Yes, I removed one layer of mesh.  I also tried removing the resonator
disks, but found I didn't like the results:  too bassy, and not enough
high-end, so I put them back in.

These Oktavas are awefully bassy.....I was thinking of getting
an MK-012, but only if they are brighter than the 319.  They should be,
if they are small diameter capsule versus large, right?

Ok, I simulated removing C5, C6, and R9, and it didn't appear to begin rolling
off until the Megahertz range.  So I disconnected them in the mic, just to verify,
and sure enough, no real audible difference.

I might sell this on Ebay, and try the MK-012.

Ok, that's a good idea.

What about this:  I still have the medium diameter capsule from my SP-1,
that I did the Jim Williams mods on.  Surely that will be a brighter capsule
than the stock 319, right?

:)

Ok, I tried the SP-1 capsule on the 319.

Now it sounds like the original SP-1!    There's proof that maybe 85%
of the sound of a mic is in the capsule!  Maybe it's more in certain
cases.

Unfortunately, now the mic is too bright!  Oh well.....

:p ;)

If the 319 seems to bass heavy, maybe your mic is to close to the source. Back off a little to reduce the proximity effect.

Good point, but I still prefer a brighter mic.  Just backing off from the mic won't add high-end presence.

So can anyone recommend a capsule, whose brightness is somewhere between the 319 and the
SP-1?    The 319 is way too bassy and dull, and the SP-1 is bright to the point of harshness.

If 90% of the sound of a mic is from the capsule, why can't a put a Peluso U87 clone capsule into this,
and have a killer mic?

A K-67 capsule is designed to have its high end reduced through the electronics or transformer. K-67 equipped mics without some sort of de-emphasis tend to sound harsh. What you want is a bright capsule designed to pair with a flat response circuit. The C12 moght be more to your liking.
