JBL 4430's

Hey guys,

What can anyone tell me about these? I found a mediocre condition pair that I was thinking of acquiring and fixing up.

Thoughts? I understand they can be quite loud with a good amp, and sound pretty dang awesome in good shape.

They have a real nice stereo image and great dynamics.
I prefer to run them bi-amped active.

I am pretty sure we had a pair of those built into a mobile recording truck we made at Neve for ABC (Australian Broadcasting Company). At the APRS show that year we parked it outside and George Martin gave us a 24 track copy of Macca's 'Live and Let Die'. I spent all day in there remixing that track. Those speakers were awesome.

Wonderful monitors! Parts are beginning to get a little scarce, as JBL has stopped making parts for many vintage models. Usually the only thing these need is a re-foam job on the woofers. I say go for it!
