Hi

I am thinking of building my own ADC.  I want to use the ESS ES9102 chip.  Does anybody have any experience with this?  Any ideas if i can get a diy kit?  Never made one of these before.

Well not so long ago I wanted to use this chip to make a kit with it. I could not get a datasheet for it. And there the show ended.

You can actually order the ES9102C Eval board from ISMOsys :

http://ecommerce.ismosys.com/ordering/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=34&products_id=966&currency=2

Not really cheap though, albeit complete, at 583.33 US$ (486.11€) But the datasheet is shipped with it.

The chip itself is 57.51$ (47.95€)

Twisted Pear Audio, the maker of the highly praised Buffalo DAC is working on an ADC kit based on the ES9102, see here :

Hope that helped,
Steph.

I like these the SABRE32 from ESS and the hyperstream conversion sounds perfect.
These modules are available soon. We have some delay in production, the proto works well.

It seems that ESS is no longer making ADC chips?  I'm not even finding a distributor for the DAC chips.  Where would one buy these in small quantities these days?

I was just looking at the ESS parts the other day. Datasheets are still 'by NDA only' or some similar arrangement, but they did list a distributor: http://www.shawelectronics.com/es9038pro-8-chnl-new.html They seem really nice, but not so simple to work with. Any further information would be appreciated!
