When you're getting parts for projects, how do you know which chips to get?
Right now, i'm parting the 9K, and looking for TL052.
I see -052C, -052A, -052AID, etc.

will any of these work properly or will i need a specific TL052?
same with the MAT-02 for this unit.. MAT-02 with different suffixes.

this goes for projects in general, not just the 9k

thanks

lok carefully at the datasheets for those parts as ALK50 suggested. a lot of those part numbers are for the different footprints and temp ranges. they look complex but really aren't that bad.

Yea,

Prefixes are generally just the manufacturers ID, suffixes are packaging, pinout and temp ranges (commercial/indutrial/military etc.)

A good hint for datasheets is Google for the partnumber and add "pdf" (without quotes) after it. This will bring up lots of hits from different manufacturers.

If that doesn't locate it go to:

Datasheetarchive

...and that'll locate the datasheet rapidly. It's sometimes good to check out different manufacturers datasheets for the same part, because they have varying amounts of usefulness! Linear Technology and Nat Sem are particularly good w.r.t datasheets and references to other literature.

So print them out and keep them nearby! It's usually the front page that has the codes- normally under "ordering codes" etc.
