Anyone have a good sounding easy small balancing circuit that will provide 12 db of gain and balance a signal? I want to mod the direct outs on my Tascam M3500 to send +4 balanced instead of the -10 dbv unbalanced..

I've built this one (Audiox) and I guess it works as it's supposed to - I don't hear it change my sound in any way! (using my gear in studio on a patchbay with lines never longer than 5m)
But I wonder what would be the difference between Audiox's and the one PeterC suggested in a previous post? I guess they would sound the same, but is there any specific advantages in between them?
And also, why is nowadays everyone favoring dedicated IC's (That, BB, TI) over those?
