here is the write up for an aftermarket choke p/n P-CF22699 (Antique Electronic)

90 ma DC for Super Reverb, Twin Reverb and Dual Showman Amps

only 14 bucks so why roll your own?

because we like to roll our own, ok?  :D

or we just like ripping stuff apart to see what's inside, like Mom's toaster,  ;D

we stuck this thing on a test jig to run 8 ma DC and check Henries, did not notice much change,

pictures at 11 for all you ambulance chasers!  :p

here are some pics of the choke,

outside tape is almost like masking tape, inside tape is like strapping tape,

random winding, about 15 or 20 turns per layer,

clear insl is the gap,

lead wires are stapled to some insl, everybody has different taping techniques,

so a lot of transformer design is engineers playing with paper and tape,
