I'm looking for something to take mastering, in my studio, to a next level.
Been playing with the idea of some Calrec EQ's, but i'm not sure if these are anything worth in terms of (serious) mastering?

The masivve looks like the gear i need, but can't justify the cash for, who can?

As for a compressor something in the same league, thought about ToobTek or again Menlie?

I'm sure glas and iron is the way to go, so that leaves the Calrec out of subject...

please feel free to brainstorm along my friends.

Cheers, :sam: :guinness:

i'm looking especially for stuff what makes louder without squashing living daylights out of the material. Mazif seems to be doing this just fine but the costs  :? .
I think the valves are really responsible for this.

Sontec is very tempting...
Jaakko, can you give an estimation on cost and time involved?
one can never have to much colors and options

Well, this is what I'm planning to build:

Stand-alone version that can be used with various preamps, lineamps, etc. having at least 24dB of gain:

The output transformer can be eliminated if you don't mind an unbalanced output. You just need to arrange for the output of the EQ to be working into about 500 ohms.

i'm not sure if i understand all of that, most of it is clear to me but i don't feel i can imagine what's going on rightaway...
i'm willing to lurk and absorb along the line...

And i'm very curious about the results of course.

Cheers Dave, here's to you :sam:

i will correct myself, after a closer look i start to see the idea behind your work Dave, only the Z thing what i understand stays a little "uppreditable to me"

Looks like something i would like to try out myself soon...

Hey Jaakko, which Wilco inductors you ordered ?
I downloaded the PDF brochures from their page. What series and values?
