I'm sure the answer is somewhere but i've been googling and reading data sheets for more than an hour now with no luck. What is the difference between NE5534AP and NE5534AN?

The "A" is for guaranteed lower input noise but what about "N" and "P"? For example the keith ssl9k schem asks for NE5534AN but my local dealer only have NE5534P.

Signetics/Philips or Motorala use "N" suffix, Texas Instruments use "P" suffix. Both only means the case type - PDIP−8.
For suffix you should always look in manufacturer datasheet.
