Hello,
I have a non working Yamaha SPX1000 unit,
yamaha doesn't provide service for this unit anymore.

Does anyone knows any tech or repair service experienced in this units in Europe?

Thank you so much

I once repaired a broken SPX Power Supply.
If thats the promlen I could help you.
But I don´t offer any other service to this unit.

Does it do anything at all?

It doesnt seem to initiate the Operating system, I can send you a video showing the problem.
just pm your email

thank you so much

Well, does look like the unit is getting power.

So maybe no powersupply problem.

Just to be sure, can you meassure with a multimeter the Voltages of the power rails comming from the supply on the left?
If I remember correctly the Voltages should be printed on the board, right?
If possible hook up a scope to see if any strange things comming from the PS that could disturb the unit.

Be carefull! I remember the PS from the faulty SPX I had my hand on had no isolation from main power.

If PS is fine, I probably can´t help you any further.
Someone?

I was able to upload the video showing the problem in the SPX1000 on startup,
here is the link for everyone to see:

Thank you so much,
I will check the voltage and the PSU in the next days, and post back to you.

Although I'm almost certain the PSU is fine and that the failure is on the main board. And if thats the case its really unfortunate because then it starts to be complicated.

Thank you

Dear derEber,

I would like to know how do you fix your SPX1000 PSU. I've got some problem with.
When i unplug PSU to the Main PCB i could read correct voltage value on the PSU but as soon as i connect the PSU Voltage get down and my SPX does work.
How do you fix it?

Best regards,
xarolium

Somebody can help for the SPx1000 Psu problem ?  :-\

Well, I remember, the filter caps on the sec were worn and bad.... and maybe a blown Diode too.

First a schematic would be helpful.

Now I remember. Mine was a SPX 90.
Here is the schematic:

I am pretty sure the PSU will be simmilar for the SPX1000

well..... PSU can´t be too different.

Different PSU's are "Different"
And PSU's are  different between the SPX models.

The SPX90 PSU's suffers from overheating, normally Electrolytic caps blow and then you have to replace those  and any other component that might have suffered from the caps fail.
It's common for SPX90 PSU's to fail.

The SPX900 don't suffer that much from overheating, normally they stand pretty solid after a lot of years. Only 4 Electrolytic caps on this one with a lot of space.
But of course any PSU can fail.

SPX1000 PSU also suffers from overheating because the Caps are close to each other and close the resistors that get hot.

I was able to repair my SPX1000 unit, you can see the problem in this video:

I measured all the rails at the connectors, +5v and -18v were fine, but I had no voltage on the +18V.
After inspection there was a capacitor C19 that was physically leaking, and the Diode D6 was also corroded from the capacitor's loss of electrolyte.
I replaced all the electrolytic capacitors anyway C19,C20,C21,C22,C23 and C24.

I measured the D6 Diode and it measured fine, I cleaned it up and re-used it.

The unit powers on fine now and works great.
My PSU is the North European 240V model.
