Best Dan,

Well, cross that one off your bucket-list Dan...well done!

Now you can move on to machining your own bodies and head-baskets, winding your own transformers, and manufacturing your own tubes...

;)

(Just kidding Dan!...relax and drink that beer you always post a pic of at the end of your build threads)

I've been helping Dany out with the refinement of his D7 capsule.

I must say that Dany is very dedicated to getting this right and I think the resulting capsule speaks for itself.

So here's a clip from a session I did last night with Dany's D7 capsule mounted in my custom Pearlman U47.

There are two clips, one of the sax in the track and one of the sax soloed.

The sax was tracked with a Royer 121 as well and is blended with Dany's D7. The soloed track is just the Pearlman D7 combination.

We're currently testing Dany's new D-7 capsule in his D-M49 clone build, along with some other very nice LDC mics...here's a quick clip of a the D-M49 w/D-7 capsule on a male vocalist...there's no treatment whatsoever on this vocal, so feel free to download and apply EQ, compression and/or reverb to taste:

Tonight is CNC time  ;) preparing fresh new cap,
Stay tuned,
Best,
Dan,

Dan, i had the opportunity to try your D7 capsule recently, and it's truly great. I love the beef and the smooth highs. No hype, just honey goodness.  I also compared it to a well known capsule and prefer this one. Great job. I can't even imagine the engineering skills and patience to do this. How long before we get a 47 and a 12?

D7 Mount
58d02819947ba.jpeg

Hi All, in the meantime i am producing shorter stand for the Gt2b Style mic ,  Fred Suggested this to use the D7 mount in the GT2B style mic the capsule will sit at the nominal height as originally in the Gt2B , using 2 bolts about 3-4mm thickness and 2 M2 screw a bit longer ,

58d02819947eb.jpg

The Shorter mount i am to produce, the capsule should sit in the GT2B headbasket as the per the original height of a short body U47 or U47 Fet,  meaning that the capsule top portion will sit right on the headbasket ring.
Thanks to Fred for this Tip.

Stay tuned,
best,
Dan,

To All who are looking For a M7 type capsule  I tried a D7 capsule from Dan (Poctop) .I Have 2 Flea 47's with  Thiersch Blue line and the original Red line that came with Flea when I purchased it. I put Dan's capsule in one of my Fleas so I can A-B and I have to say it's quite sweet up against the Thiersch ,it's even more old school vintage and it's a little fatter, I always love non Hyped top end of capsules so I can open the top end where I want like the old 47's ,less pre Eq'd more natural ,is basically what I can label this capsule  as. I'll let you know as I experiment on Multiple instruments. But for a start I love where this puppy is going. Should be interesting on Cellos and double bass and Thin vocals that don't have much body (which is most).

I highly recommend this capsule.
We had the opportunity to compare Dan's D7 to one of the most renowned independent capsules in the market today, in the same configuration, being the capsule the only variable. The D7 immediately showed more tridimensionality and mid range authority without being harsh or strident. Needless to say the D7 is staying in the mic permanently.
My configuration is D7 capsule, Poctop's D-47 dual tube, AMI Bv08 Classic,  WE 408a and Aputis body. This mic sounds amazing.
