I don't know what scott spent. Some of the prices of parts I use when I am building a microphone.

Transformers $60.00 - $250 USA

Capsules >$150.00 to $1000.00 USA for 34mm ones

When I purchased some 6072a af few years ago I paid about $20.00USA

8 feet of brass bar rail is about $80.00 USA

good cable is about $1.75 a foot USA

good connectors(amphenol c091a series) around $8.00 for each part of the four needed $32.00 USA total

The rest of the parts you can sum up depending on what you want.

I have tried amorphous, german NiFeCo, Mu and will be trying a mixed lam model. They all sound a little different. The lam alloy that seems to have little added sound is the amorphous.

The cheapest capsules I like are the 797 Audio 34mm mult pattern ones.

Could you describe what you did to paint it, cause it looks awesome. Did you use a can of spray paint? Lacquer on top? Wax? Sand it and then lacuer. You know. How did you get it to look like that. This is way more fun and just about as creative as a Pinewood Derby.
