Sowter (www.sowter.co.uk) make a nice-looking inductor designed for use in the Pulteq EQ (cat. no. 9325). It has taps at 150, 82, 68, 47, 33 and 27 mH. I notice that this matches neither the schematic of the 'real thing' on the Gyraf website, nor the SRPP-based remake, which surprised me.

Has anyone used the Sowter inductor in a Pultec remake (with presumably a corresponding change in the capacitor values) ?

James

I used the Cinemag CML-150MT "Pultec" inductor, which has the same taps as the Sowter.

There is another supposedly-original filter schematic available which matches the Sowter and Cinemag inductor values.

Send a PM with your email address if you want a copy.

Thanks for the replies (and thanks to cayocosta for the layout details).

Actually I wasn't too disappointed with the cost of the Sowter - living in the UK, it seems like a fair price. I was just surprised that the values of the inductors on both the schematics from Jakob's site differed significantly from what's obviously a custom piece from Sowter.

All the best,
James.

I emailed Cinemag about a couple transformers last week, and they got back to me that day with a price quote. I'm pretty sure you just have to email them and ask for a quote...
