Any idea on a price?
I'm not sure.
A pro new unit is equivalent to the John Hardy M-2 I believe. That's 1650eur + vat.
Then take of for diy, no peak-meters, less guaranty etc. 750eur maybe?
It's good looking.

But, I need to test first, to see if everything works perfect. And I might decide to keep it. Depends on how it fits with my other preamps. But good price means more likely to sell..

The HP-2 will come up for sale for Eur450
One channel working perfect,
the other has a little troubleshooting left.

I'll add pictures and more info soon.

Up for trade/sale:

Great River MP-2

Eur 450

Channel 2 is working perfect
Channel 1 works with line level signals, but not mic-signals. Need some more troubleshooting.

  • Lot’s of gain.
Ch 2 has a noise-floor at -63dbFS on full gain. That’s very good I believe
  • Stepped Elma pots.
  • +48V, pad, phase
  • JLM acdc psu
  • 230V power-transformer
  • Cinemag CMMI-5C input transformer
  • Cinemag CMOC-1 output transformer, XLR
  • Unbalanced transformerless output, jack
  • Power-light
  • Peak-lights are just for decoration (no peak-detection circuit)

Both pcb-boards are confirmed working,
so ch1 must have some errors in the wiring I assume.
Could be some molex-connectors.
Everything else is finished.

Ch2 has last resistor wrong I believe (on max gain). Should be of little practical concern)

I’m a little tired of DIY and troubleshooting,
and although the preamp is very good, and probably would be my go-to,
I’m fine with my ssl9k and are selling this as is.

Compared to the ssl9k the HP-2 has (imo) more body and a little more controlled mid-frequencies. You can hear a little transformer-coloration,
and then, you have to option to run it cleaner using the unbalanced out.
A stellar preamp.
