Alright guys.
The cases should have been here Friday already, but they finally arrived TODAY!!
Hooray! I don't what took them so long but now they are here - and they look indeed gorgeous!!  :D

Here are some impressions:

arrival

inside:
If you look closely you can see two things: to the right of the two holes there's another pair of holes - pre-cut.
It's actually very hard to see on this pic, but if these two extra holes are needed for another measuring spot you can break-out the
metal there and voilà you have two more holes ;)
The second thing I'm talking about is we had the dividing panel laser engraved...

You can see it better here:
This panel is the only part not powder coated to it's blank industrial steel. When we cut in all the different holes for the various pcbs fitting this enclosure we realized it gets quite confusing when you want to place your pcbs and look for the according mounting holes. So we decided to have the shapes of all different pcbs + theirs according names laser engraved so you'll find your way easily :)

on the last pic you can see how we solved the problem with the second adjustment pot (some mics need one)

I'll post some more pictures later on where I'll add some annotations what components are supposed to go where in the box...

...shipping will finally start tomorrow.

One more thing. In all the places where I'll add the screws to the kit (handle, feet, lid, mounting screws for the dividing panel) the holes are threaded.
For the chassis for Europe we added some more threads in a couple of places (e.g. mounting holes for the choke,...) For those chassis that go to the rest of the world we didn't - for one reason.
The threads are metric (European standard). So if you live in the states and your chassis had holes with metric thread it might be difficult to find a store that carries metric screws, right ;)

Anyway I hope you like the result. I'll start to build some M49 and a U47 PSU and keep you posted how it goes :)

Hi Rainton,

Looking good!  ;D

So if you live in the states and your chassis had holes with metric thread it might be difficult to find a store that carries metric screws, right ;)

I would say it could be easier finding metric screws in the U.S. than it would be to find SAE screws in Europe. Maybe!  ;)

These look like top notch work!  It shouldn't be too hard to find metric screws over here in the US.   I've got a m49 pcb from Poctop ready to be dropped in here also.

Extremely glad those of you who received it already like it!

While building my M49 PSU I discovered some very minor flaws I will cover later in another post.
Also I'll add some dimensions of the cutouts you might need when sourcing parts such as switches, fuse holder, IEC socket etc.

One thing though that is a slight problem for me now I discovered while shipping the PSU chassis to you guys.
Because they're made of solid steel they are heavier than expected and that means the shipping fees I calculated don't cover the actual shipping fees.
In Germany with DHL we have following steps: up to 5 kg, up to 10kg, up to 20, up to  31.5kg.

I thought 2 chassis would still be well below 5kg but as much as I've tried to reduce the weight of the packaging while still keeping the chassis safe enough for their ride - 2 chassis incl. packaging weigh 5.6 kg.

That means the above mentioned concerns all of you who have ordered 2 or more chassis. Within Europe the difference is only 5 Euros which is not much but considering I have to ship over a dozen of those packages within Europe it does matter.

Where it matters even more is to the US and Canada where the difference is in shipping fees is 14 Euros.
Again there are at least 10 people from the US or Canada who ordered two chassis...you see what I mean.

So I will have to work through the list getting in touch with all of those whom it concerns...

Hmm... in which direction do the electrons actually go?

I received some mails and it seems all of those who received their chassis already, really like it! :)

I also started building some m49 power supplies and really enjoy it a lot  :D

But as I mentioned before I also found some very minor flaws while building my M49 PSUs.
Since we initially planned to have the chassis varnished and not powder coated we underestimated how much the powder coating would add to the surface. As a result some IEC sockets wouldn't fit the cutout and I had to use a file to remove some powder coating on the edges of the IEC cutout. The same goes for the cutout for the fuse holder.

Not a big deal but worth mentioning.

Also, since powder coating is an "all-or-nothing"  affair - the entire base of the chassis is powder coated. If the chassis were varnished I would have left the inside of the base chassis blank steel.
If you want to make sure you have good continuity (for grounding) between the dividing panel and the base I'd suggest you remove some of the powder coating around the screw holes for where the dividing panel gets mounted to the base:

It might not be necessary, but it'll definitely improve your case ground and then you can definitely use any of the unused holes in the dividing panels to create a star ground.

The big PLUS with powder coating though - these little boxes are very robust and impact and scratch resistant!!

What's really cool is that our plan with the tiny hole for the pattern switch worked  8)
It's barely visible but if you look very closely, you will see it on the side where the Binder and XLR connectors are supposed to be mounted.
So if you need this switch just place a drill on this tiny hole and make it larger - if you don't - you probably won't even notice the hole ;)

Also I loved how easy the laser engraving makes it to place the pcbs - you have no idea how confusing it looked without that - just dozens of holes all over the place  ;D

Anyway - I'm trying my best to ship all cases asap, but it's almost 60 cases altogether I have to ship, so it's a lot of work...
...if you haven't received your chassis yet - hang in there!

No I didn't notify everyone because it was like 60 cases I shipped and since I'm working full time it's quite a challenge ;)

Yours was shipped on March 16th - I'll send you the tracking number in a PM

It's a Fender pilot lamp. I bought it at banzaimusic.com but I'm sure in the States you can get them in any guitar shop  ;)

Hi Rain,

I do see that some are getting them now but have not received mine yet. Do you know when mine went out? You can PM me instead of replying here.

Thanks,
