Hello,

I'd like to try and make a few microphone bodies myself, mainly the cilinder shell and bottom cap.
What materials are most commonly used, and what materials are not good for it.

I mainly see anodized alu and my Blue Baby Bottle seems to have a brass pipe casing, the outside powder coated?
Love to get some experienced DIYers to provide some tips.

Thanks !

Hi Jakob,

Do you know the link? Nothing comes up when I search on the forum.
Or Im going blind :)

Hi Jan

Thanks for the link, very informative.
I've also asked a local machining shop, brass is very expensive they said and they advised annodized alu, unless I wanted the "heavy" feel of brass. Was fun, got a tour around their factory and know a little bit more how certain processes work.
