Sorry for the newbie question, but what does it mean when it says 10-return when wiring it as a single grid? Return to where? Also when I got it, it had 8 and 9 joined and then tied to ground. They are just supposed to be joined to each other, not to ground as well, right?

pin 10 goes to ground.
8 and 9 join the two sec. halfs together and do not get grounded.
