Hey, I'm specing-out a mic input transformer
and I have the option of one for 20-30Ω microphones or 200-600Ω microphones.

Which one should I choose for an average selection of studio microphones?

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Kato

Most mics are about 200 ohms output impedance, most modern mic preamps are about 2k input impedance. There is some variation, though. Some modern condensers are only 50 ohms, some inexpensive dynamics, on the other hand, are 600 ohms. Some preamps are relatively high impedance e.g. 10k, others are only 1k or even less.
