Never listen to the stupid robot.

It should really warn with new posts instead:  "Have you looked for an older thread containing relevant knowledge to be sure you aren't reinventing the wheel?"

I do not know the answer you seek offhand.

Is there anything uber-special about the KM84's enclosure that would warrant cloning?

I recall reading something about that on Michael Joly's website, a couple years ago, on modding the t.Bone SC140 SDC's, which included enlarging the vents behind the capsules.

Admittedly, that did indeed prompt me to buy two pairs (hey, ~100$ a pair, including shockmounts, flightcase & 2x10m XLR cables). I did end up enlarging the vents on one of the (removable) capsules, but i've yet to perform any actual comparative tests though.

On a semi-related note, i've read the SC140 body fits Rode NT5 / NT55 capsules. After finding that out, i guess the whole mic's an NT55 knockoff (the NT5 has no pad / high-pass).
