Hello,

I am wondering if anybody knows of any "Magic Eye" level indicator designs? I would like to have one on a valve amp at home, just for visual effect

This has been discussed a few times, 'here' as well I thought (and also at the 'old' place). A search will tell more - and one of the threads will also have the link to that very nice magic eye site.

Oups, sorry, will do a search. Have been sitting a few hours googling, but didn't even think of searching here

THanks

No problem !

There's some good info - and it looks like it's all coming down to the same idea/conclusions: they're nice, the coolest, but of limited use for accurate levelmetering. But since you already said you're after the visual effect all will be fine.
And I remember an addition from PRR: you don't have to rectify the signal - just throw it at the tube.

Bye,

Peter
