Jet/water cutting places in the EU

Hello!

Finally coming round to finishing off my tubemixer...

Now, where does one get the frames cut?
And what program is used to design the frame?
Is there anything as easy as Frontpanel designer?

You can use any 2D CAD program that can output dxf files to draw the outline of the frame. You can then import that into Front Panel Designer to add all the holes and cutouts. If you are in Europe you can then use Frank of Schaeffer to make them. There are USA equivalents. Here's one I made earlier:

What thickness did you go for?
And did you add the back and bottom plates as well?

The frame (or cheek as we used to call them at Neve) is 3mm thick (at Neve they were one eighth  of an inch thick which is 3.175mm so 3mm is close enough).

You normally need  back plates to hold connectors and the frame has provision for standard sub-rack extrusions to attach them.

I have not made a final decision about the bottom (and top). The plan so far is to fit wooden sides the the frame. I plan to make them slightly taller and deeper than necessary. Then I can add a wooden top and fix it to the wooden sides. I and then also add a piece of wood to cover the entire bottom. Whether I need metal plates as well is undecided. All the electronics will be in screened modules and all connections to them will be screened so at present I am thinking top and bottom plates will not be needed.
