Anyone here know the Technics SU V660 and its very bad connectors - I beleave its them causing the unstability !

Now and the the L (or R) channel is dead and I can mostly get it back by pressing on the Phone/Jacks/potmeter and/or the PCB's inside ... so pretty sure it's some bad connectors.

I have tried spraying them with some cleaner and "massaged" them but not yet very stable connections - I have set it up so I can trace the signal ... but oh, what a mess of switches to fool me ;-((

Anyone here with experience on that Technics SU V660 or what else to do ?

I would rather think it's dry joints.

I had to assamble and take it apart 4-5 times before I succeeded ... Gabriel, blow your horn !

In fact it was a bit of both - I FIRST resoldered all joints by the pot-meters for Treble, Bass and Balance - then it was a little more stable.

Then I gave every one of the pins in the 3-4 edge connectors connecting the front panel PCB to the main PCB in the buttom a little "twist" to let it have another "way" into the female part - no porn here ! - but now it's seems to be stable eventhough I "massage" the pots and switches !

Technics SU V660 is NOT made to last 25 years and it's certainly NOT made to be repaired after 25 years af service !

But it's a Hell of a good amp, I think !

Now it's time for a cold beer and some good music !

I'm glad you have it going for another 25 years!
My home system is based on a SUV6X, some kind of ancestor to the 660, now in its 32nd year of use. Only issue is some of the input selection switches become noisy.

I think all these inter PCB connectors are really bad design - they will be corroted over time ... and so will the switcheing connecting points ... but 25-35 years, maybe time for a new one  8)

I believe mine, being of an earlier generation, has less problems (because of less interconnects).
Anyway, today you can have an AV receiver of similar specs for about $200...

I works now so I'll keep it ... but next time I hear those fall-outs ... I will get a new one for sure !
