How do you approach these guys when it comes to a recap, what do you put in its place? This 40/40uF 300V has a diameter of 25mm. I can find f&t´s 50/50uF 500v...they are fat.
Can caps are just multiple single value caps with a common negative connection. If you can't find the size or value you need, can easily wire up individual capacitors so they have a common negative connection. You can also stuff the can with new capacitors. just use heat shrink on the leads to not short the connections.
This is good info on replacing a multiple value capacitor.
