But it's also 6S6B versus AC701, right?

not yet. I want to compare one part after the other. Now I have 2 "identical" mics, where the only difference is the transformer.
In the next step, I will change the output capacitor and then, I change the tube to AC 701. I guess, I can manage it in the next week.

Hey Kosi,

Did you sign up for shockmounts from the new batch?

They'll be here in a few weeks  ;)

I signed up, but I thought, the deal didn't work out ??? Maybe I confuse something ?
But of course:  I'm in for 2 !

That's good.  :)

So it's apples to apples then.

Or oranges to oranges for that matter.  :p

New Batch???
Is there still a chance to get one or two of these bodies???

Should be here soon. All units are still available, I'll put them up for sale here first-come first-served.

The PSU case is called: Ultimate Mic PSU chassis

Hey guys,

just wanted to chip in with a quick picture :)

Finished my second M49 yesterday, still one PSU missing (metalwork's a pain). I used Haufe T8974 as transformers and EC71 tubes, the circuit is Oliver Archut's alternative M49. Everything worked out great, they sound amazing, no hum, very low noise floor for a tube mic -> awesome!

Waiting for the shockmounts...and a third M49 body :D

Best regards,
Mathias

Some solid state variant here.
M50 style with Schoeps capsule elements from old lavalier mics.
Heavily modded MXL990 pcbs, these are brought to Schoeps specs (mostly original CMC5 part values used), including full 60V of polarization voltage (up to 95V via trimpot).
Next mics will be built around tubes!

Open for orders  ;)

Shockmount is optional, to keep the price as low as possible.
I have the kits here, just waiting for the mounts to arrive - orders placed now will ship in about 2-3 weeks.

See first post for pricing and instructions on how to place your order.
