Looking to build a nice guitar splitter.....

I like to get a old mixer channel strip and rack it with  a DI.

You get the DI as well as the strip preamp, EQ and outs (sometimes a stereo pair as well as a mono out)
Add diy discrete outputs to beef up the strip outs nicely.

An extra plus is if the strip has some aux outs - perfect for distributing to gtr pedals etc.

I did it - with an added compressor  module.

Definately worth the effort.

Here's a three way splitter I threw together loosely based on Gyraf's earlier one:

I made a few changes:

1) Added a non-inverting gain stage to the front in case I wanted to add gain
2) Added bias-current compensation provisions (R3 and C3) in case I wanted to try a BJT input op-amp
3) Converted the circuit to a single rail supply via a virtual ground splitter IC (U1, a TLE2426 chip)

I didn't think it completely through but I think I can DC couple the first stage to the followers as the output of the first stage sits at the virtual ground bias (6V in this case), which should drive the other stages properly.
