To all you knowledgeable men. I bought a Ensoniq DP2 recently with what seems to be the issue .( Check the pictures )

I'd like to find replacement one. I reach out to all the ensoniq specialist with no success. My last chance is mouser :).

Does it looks familiar to you OGs? Would you have a brand/name that can fit? Or even in your spare part's box? The only visual indication is this A5K on the top and the 7 small 2 big pins conecting it to the PCB.

Let me know what you can find out guys.

My guess is Bourns PTV/PTT Series

https://www.bourns.com/docs/product-datasheets/PTVPTT.pdf

You can work out which one it is as you have the part in your hands (you can measure shaft length etc)

Thanks Humner for your help. Much appreciated.I've tried that already. But I'll try again with your link. This 9 pins configuration seems uncommon.

I'll take any other idea folks. Thanks in advance.

The two big pins are there to mechanically hold the pot in place.  They are not an electrical part of the pot.

Thanks for the knowledge mjrippe  I feel dumb but I embrace my rookie status.

So we're talking about a single gang 7 pins pot. What's the A5K's means? Can it help to narrow down my search? I'll take the mesurements and start to dig. Thanks again guys.

A5K = 5K log.

I have never seen a 7 pin dual gang pot before (although apparently they're quite common)
Most I have seen have 6 pins (plus 2 additional board lock pins)

edit: ALPS RK14

Thanks metalb00b. Your input definitly helps. So 5K log 7pin. I'll take the exact mesurement when I get back to the lab. And take it out the pcb. ( the ALPS RK14 B20K you mentioned looks close in shape. But 20K).

Is the "A" or "B" in front of the pot value is important?

If anybody else have any tip or advice for the search or thing to take into consideration for the replacement. Don't hesitate to let me know.

Thank

Thank

eBay has ALPS RK14 A10K (but need to solder two 10K resistor in parallel to bring it down to A5K)
and yes, the A and B is important, because A defines the pot resistance curve, which is logarithmic, and B is linear.

Here's how you modify the pot total resistance to A5K (if the RK14 A10K on eBay has the same dimension as the pot you're replacing)
