Hello, I have an empty (without capsule)  AKG D19 Microphone.
I'd like to find a replacememt capsule for it but I know it is almost impossible to find it.
So I'd like to know if someone had  experiences with different replacement  capsules in this mic  ... I know It would not be the same microphone ...
Thank you

No capsule .....!
Unless you have a vacuum packaged NOS example.
Any attempt to recreate or repair, would not be a D19.

Yup
;)

Polish it up and put it on display in the trophy cabinet , not worth the effort.
Seriously there are modern mics that would eqate to a similar output.

The body is really in perfect conditions and hoping that in the future someone will recreate a capsule with the same specs, I'd like to use it for vocal ... although it will no longer be the same microphone ...  it does his figure  :)

Hello Prr, I have just seen these links but I fear they are too cheap chinese replacement capsules
Did you have any experience with any of these capsules?

Before you buy any capsule check the size because the D19 body is  thinner than the current standard

You will not find experience with fitting other capsules in that body, why would someone do that?

People that have a broken D19, can try to have someone repair their capsule (very very rare) or they trash the mic.

Putting another capsule will make it another mic, so why dont you buy another mic?

you probably be better of buying a new SM57 than fitting a foreign capsule in that body

you don't have a D19 mic, you have a body

> it looks good

Exactly.

Try the fake -58 guts in a good-looking shell. Your vocalists just may love it. If not, you can use the capsule for talk-back or banjo artists.

I think the D19 was replaced by the D190. I bought some D190s back in the 70s for miking guitars. It is possible the D190 has the same capsule as the D19, just a different body. You could try buying a D190 and putting the capsule in your D19. Just a thought.

Cheers

Unfortunatelly Ian capsule is completely different beast. D19 is the same family as D12, D17, D20, D24 etc. large diaphragm, with need of centering  by the screws (or "tune"). D190 is typical later capsule which you can find in few other AKG mikes from the same period (as also OEM mikes). It's mid size, factory centered, with dipahragm glued to the plastic ring.
Anyway capsule could be used with need of a small adaptation.

I can confirm that the D190 is a different microphone, but I have read it is possible that D119 has a similar capsule as the D19 and the same about D707, but I am not sure about it

It isn't similar, but it's also really good and totally underrated. Yes the same family of capsules - d707, d100, d200 and telefunken m611 (for hf/hm ), two uher mikes and more. Some have different impedance and small differences, but all are interchangeable.
