Not mine, I nicked the pic from Gearslutz :green:

Looks like they forgot to order shielded trannies  Lotsa dualtriodes for that app :?

Trannies are www.dantrafo.dk I think. Jakob, have you got any experience with those?

I have no idea how this box sounds but I do think this summing box biz is just a trend that's not going to last long...

Hmm, looks like they're using different capacitors (the big blue and white ones near the trannies) for left and right :?

TubeTech is a bit of a hit and miss in my experience. The CL1B is really really nice, as nice as the LA2A, but that other one, LC2A I think, sucks donkey balls. I like the midrange eq, the others are boring.

The trannies are customjobs fer sure. If anyone here have an original TubeTech, they very willing to give out a schematic if you got a serialnumber. I had a bunch, but lost them

I can't remember if there's any indication on the schematics regarding the trannies though.

I have a feeling that LCA2B is stinky either because they used an 12AT7 as the VCA or because it's got too much crap going on in the circuit. Just a thought.

cheers,
kent

Actually, the TubeTech transformers were originally "Tradania", but it seems like Dantrafo bought that company. Tradania made excellent stuff - I only know Dantrafo from PSU transformers.

kubi, I think the compression action of that LCA2B really sucks, I never found it usuable on anything. It may not be the tube, but I wouldn't wanna clone it fer sure.

kubi,

There's nothing wrong with the ECC81 per se. Much of the info is lost with the rest of the RO stuff but PRR explained fairly well the advantages of a remote cutoff tube in this spot. They can take big loads of input signal and give fair amounts of gain reduction before pretty hard core distortion sets in where as a standard triode like this distorts much sooner and doesn't move into it as smoothly. The PRR vari-mu uses a 12AU7 in this spot so you can't drive it past 10db or so of GR without clipping pretty hard. That being said, I would think with the lower mu that the 12AU7 would be better in this spot than the 12AT7 and judging by quick listening tests (not very critical anyway) I found it to be smoother than the LCA2B for compression if not as warm. Owe that to the extra transformers and tubes in the Tube Tech I guess.

cheers,
kent

I also know a guy with a three feet rack o' Behringer and he's pretty pleased too :green: Seriously, I think that TubeTech is a boat anchor and I know others who think so too. But that's is of course just an opinion too..

Who had the schematics btw?
