I have a K87 if you like. I believe the similarities between the K870 and K87 are so tiny they are interchangeable, and as I understand it, Neumann themselves claim there is no difference between the two capsules. The K87 was from original u87's and I believe the K870/67 is used in newer u87's.

Exactly, they are the same, with the difference being the insulation of the backplates. Neumann and Klaus Heyne confirm that as well.
