Hi folks,

Looking to buy a cheapish meter for measuring uH values with reasonable accuracy.
My Newcason model from ebay isn't really cutting it. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

Cheap (and many not-so-cheap) LCR meters are not accurate for inductors, because they seldom measure at the right frequency and never at the proper level. Using a sinewave oscillator and a DVM or oscilloscope is much more accurate since you can do the measurement at the frequency and level the inductor is meant to work in-circuit.

It might not qualify as "cheapish", but if ~150$ isn't too much, there's the Der-EE DE-5000 LCR-meter (also rebranded as IET DE-5000).

Manual & specs: http://akizukidenshi.com/download/ds/deree/DE-5000_manu_en2p.pdf

Is 100/120/1k/10k/100kHz measurement, and roughly 10nH to 2000H enough for ya? ::)

Thanks Khron, yes saw that earlier in the other thread. I think that might be the best one for me, as the other decent options seem to require building and I don't really have the time for that.

Thanks Abbey too  for the heads up. I will be sure to check at specified frequency where possible.
