So I got this el cheapo microphone probably of the late 80's which should be an unidirectional type.
After opening the head came the surprise: the electret-capsule inside appears not so cheap and was probably replaced - the capsule holder suggests a 14mm capsule.
The capsule itself is 10mm in diameter, 7mm in height and clearly an omnidirectional capsule - no markings. The drain is connected via a 2k2-resistor to an 1,5V battery and the output coupling capacitor is a 4µ7 (made in [19)8705).
Obviously the unidirectional capsule has been replaced and an omnidirectional installed instead. The "new" capsule doesn't look so bad and maybe could be used for something else.
Anybody ever has seen such a capsule and knows more about it?:
