hi does anyone no how to wire the volume pot on a boss rc 3 usually its soldered to a little circuit board then attached to 4 wires i have a new pot but no circuit board.its a dual vol pot 6 pin need a schematic or wiring diagram. any help would be greatly appreciated
cheers

http://www.pedalpartsaustralia.com/images/RB_3.jpg here is a picture of the pot if anyone could tell what the poles are

If you have a multimeter with a continuity function, you could just check which pin goes where in the original. most likely two of the 6 are going to ground and the 4 wires you see are for the signal and wiper.

what would the four wires be would it be as simple as two to each pot? one red and three white? ill have to do a bit of trail and error i think.
cheers

Trial and error is fun too.

Can only guess without seeing a schematic or picture of the original layout.

2 to each pot is confusing. 3 white and one red is too.

Do you have any pictures of the insides and the original pot set up?

Do you have a multimeter or continuity tester?

i found two photos of that tiny circuit board, but it's obscured by other objects, making it very difficult to tell which wire goes to which pin of the pot.

anyway, here they are:

Yeah.... 3 white wires....that's funny

Great pics though.....

Just get a cheapo continuity tester and see what goes where.....

Or disconnect one wire at a time and hook it up the same.... then guess on the other two.....if you have the original

I don't think it should be that difficult to see but, I'm still not sure what the scenario is of not having the original as a reference....

After looking more....
Aren't the wires in plugs on both the pot pcb and main board? So the pot pcb is missing and only the 4 wires from the main board are there ?????? Is the plug still attached where it would go to the pot pcb??? Some pics from op would help too.... Maybe we can puzzle it together....

I went ahead and posted a comment on James' site where these photos came from and asked if he'd jump in here to help.....We'll see...

Kinda out of options given the scenario.... Just too hard to tell from the pics.....

try the stomp boxes dedicated forums, maybe someone has the schematic or that pedal:

thanks heaps guys for the input had a little play around for 10 min managed to get it half working ill have a play round bit of trial and error see what i can do.

yeah the plug was still there pcb must have been lost with the broken pot. this is how i got it. i didn't pay much for it.

Ok 4 wires, one red 3 white. Lets call them red white 1 white 2 white 3.
double pot 6 poles. lets beak it up to pot a and pot b. Poles from left to right 123.

so pot a red wire into pole 1, white 1 into pole 2 ,and white 3 into pole 3, is the loop circuit.

as for guitar volume can't work it out?
poles 1 and 2 would be likely?
tried jumping the red across to pole 1 with white 2 to pole 2 didn't work. tried it with white 3 jumped as well.

Any Ideas suggestions would be great! i do have a multimeter too not the greatest at these things as you can probably guess.
Cheers guys for your help greatly appreciated

Hi Renn,

Sorry for the delay in replying, I didn't see your comment on my blog until now. I've traced the wiring an put a few more pictures on my blog: http://jameslow.com/2017/09/08/boss-rc-3-rehouse/

This shows the wiring facing the pins with the shaft pointed upwards:

The pins it attaches to on the main board:
