I should have noted that I received my kits in New Orleans a week or so ago.  They were packed very nicely.  I'm quite impressed by the whole thing.  Now I'd just like to hear them.  The boards are stuffed but Im waiting on transformers from Cinemag.

Hey Banzai, Graeme...

Just to  let you guys know,  mine also arrived safely, a week or so back.   

 As soon as I've finished this album project, I will get straight onto the build!

One question (probably I should ask in the build thread, too):  The brass bodies have quite a few stain marks/tarnish .  What is the preferred method for polishing those marks off.  I'd rather not sand, if possible, as I like the polished brass, and don't like the idea of spray painting these for fear of upsetting the width of the slot gaps behind the capsule. Clearcoat alone would probably flake off eventually.  I'd just like to be able to clean and polish them..   Would something like brasso liquid to clean, followed by turtle wax to finish, do the job, do you think?  Or has anyone got any good ideas...

Unfinished brass naturally tarnishes. You can use a polish, but I think the idea for is to have it painted. Otherwise you would have to apply polish every time you handled them.

I have lots of paints in stock, but I'm not sure that even a well primed, painted and lacquered mic will stand up to the rigors of repeated insertion into mic clips, over time..

Never tried it before, but I'm thinking this may be a good time to check out a local powder coating setup. Got a custom tyre place nearby, who do powder coating, so I think I'll check 'em out for a quote.

 I'm in North London, and these local guys specialise in fancy colours for wheels, mostly.  Bigger items.  I just hope they are capable of handling something much smaller and delicate.  Let's see..

Wish I had known that before I sprayed mine. I spent close to that on just the paint.

You have to sand the edges of the hole. I used  a Dremel, a file works too. Just be sure you don't cut the traces!
