This is so good I just had to share it!
The Korg CM-100 contact mic, sold as an "electronic tuner mic" is a great little inexpensive contact mic. I'm using it to pick up the woody, acoustic bass-like timbre of an Ashbory fretless bass at the headstock.
The piezo element is encased in a little plastic spring-loaded clamp with rubber bumpers on both jaws. I've had to squeeze down on the jaws with another screw clamp to get good bass pickup.
Seems to have pretty high output level, terminated in a 1/4" male plug.
Good candidate for further modifications.
