Shallow rack enclosures
« on: April 27, 2018, 09:10:53 AM »
I'm after a 2U rack enclosure, that's about 100mm - 150mm deep, and without an extruded front panel as I'd like to add a custom one later. I can't seem to find anything like that anywhere. Can anyone recommend one?

Canford, Modushop, etc. don't seem to have anything that I need.

This one is 170mm deep:

That was the best bet I found when looking for a shallow but customisable enclosure recently (I was specifically looking for steel top and bottom). Frank at NRG can do custom enclosures in aluminium though, if you need shallower - just drop him a line via www.frontpanels.de .

Yes 170mm is just slightly too big for me. I'll give Frank a try.

Seems crazy that you can't find any really shallow enclosures at all over here!

I think that’s 218mm deep, I’m really after something around 100mm - 150mm max.

Frank’s sent me a quote for a custom job which look like it would be great, but an off the shelf product would be ideal.

This modushop enclosure shouldn't be too difficult to mod, provided you have the right tools. A good miter saw for the side extrusions and a jigsaw for the top and bottom panels.
Who's right or wrong is irrelevant. What matters is what's right or wrong.
