Cool,

Nice layout too.

All about it!

I wonder what type of "discrete balanced input stage" is used- no input transformers here. I presume those blocks are discrete op amps, with one wired as the 4-resistor diff-amp input (perhaps with a spot of gain?) followed by the second DOA acting as the transformer driver.

Not too keen on ribbon cable for multiple panel controls myself though....

I'm sure it sounds marvellous!

I don't think there's any need to clone that one, it's pretty easy to figure out what is doing. One could probably buy the discreete amps and trannies from Phoenix but that wouldn't be very cost effective. Some DIY opamps and OEPs could do, but then it wouldn't be a 'Nicerizer' anymore :?

Juuuuuuuuuuustin  :!: :?:   :green: :sam:   ...!!!!!!! Come and spill da beanz

Sismofyt, You're right.
It's the idea that counts in the first place.
I don't think Phoenix work out bad ideas ;)

To the others, I can only handle the solder iron if someone shows me what to do :green:

I think you will find we had a full thread about this back at the old place.
Once you lot get your 312s and 325s sorted out I'm sure you will be able to think larger and make your own variant of this.

Sorry for taking time to get back to this thread, have had a week on the road with only time for brief glances at the board.

I?ve emailed a link to Shaun for this conversation and he plans to contact David Rees early next week to discover what circuitry info he is comfortable discussing.

David is a quite unique in that he has been designing circuitry for in excess of 5 decades now. He has never been one to seek the limelight, lives in a remote part of Wales and has never had an internet-connection; as a result we believe David?s designs to be very pure, and it would simply not be cricket to divulge any information without his full approval.

BTW, Shaun is up to his eyeballs prototyping new products at the moment and has asked me to convey his Best regards to Monsieur Purpose :guinness:

Ah yes, my favourite nephew.......give him my kindest regards and tell him to keep it in his trousers...!! :guinness:
